GhazzyTV's Poison Animate Weapon Necromancer Gear, Jewels & Flasks (PoE Necropolis)

Summary – TL;DR

Cap your Elemental Resistances and get the attributes your gems require in order to equip them.
The most expensive item for the low-budget build is the The Surrender The Surrender shield which isn’t really needed till you hit higher yellow or even red-tier maps, this can also be replaced by a rare shaper influenced shield with recover #% life on block. Outside of this the build can be played with a complete rare item set-up and the most important part to keep in mind is to make sure your elemental resistances are capped (75%) & that you have enough attributes to wear the gear as well as use the skill-gems you have equipped.
Besides this, the rare items should prioritize life whilst your boots needs to have a proper movement speed roll on top of the life modifier. As of 3.19 Lake of Kalandra league we now have the possibility of dropping Bone Rings which can have minion related modifiers, make sure your priorities are set anything extra will be after the life, resistance, movement speed & attributes are taken care of.

Increase level of gems is a big modifier often seen on your weapon & helmet slot, the remaining strength comes from your jewels which I’ve gone in more detail further down on this page!

My quick list recommended approach for this build is:

Item Slot Item Name Rarity
Head Life then Res/Attributes as needed Rare
Amulet Life then Res/Attributes as needed or a The Jinxed Juju The Jinxed Juju Rare
Chest Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa Unique
Gloves Life then Res/Attributes as needed Rare
Boots Life then Res/Attributes as needed Rare
Belt Darkness Enthroned Darkness Enthroned Unique
Rings Life then Res/Attributes as needed Rare Ideally double Bone Ring Bone Ring
Weapon +1 level of spell or minion skills 1H weapon Rare
Shield The Surrender The Surrender (or a rare with life recovery on block) Unique/Rare

A requirement for this is to get convocation as an item mod on either wand or shield. Until one has this, one needs to run an Unset ring. This is really important.

Armour Pieces

A lot of the higher budget examples can either be purchased or crafted. If crafting, I strongly recommend utilizing Craft of Exile to determine the cheapest approach to crafting the desired items.

Since most items in this build are Rare, the main focus will be to have as much Life as possible and ensure your attributes and resistances reach the desired caps. However, with that said there are some juicy choices one can take to increase the build’s efficiency, though they will come with a higher price tag.

Helmet

Our main focus here is to as with all our rare items have a life modifier and the helmet unlike other slots can have a modifier that grants increased level of minion skills to all your minion skills, a +2 of this is very expensive early on so look for a +1 as they are dirt cheap.

Modifier Priority List:
1. Life
2. Level of all Minion Skill Gems
3. Elemental resistances if needed
4. Attributes if needed
5. Chaos resistance

Body Armour

The chest piece can literally be any sort of 6-Link you can purchase via trade with some life, resistances and/or attributes. They tend to be sold in a corrupted state for a very cheap penny, however make sure that you get the correct colors if you do decide to purchase one like that. Another cheap option would be to just use a Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa as the higher budget version would want to go for the massive The Covenant The Covenant.

Gloves

As with other pieces, we go for high Life and whatever attributes or resistances you may need.

Modifier Priority List:
1. Life
2. Elemental resistances if needed
3. Attributes if needed
4. Chaos resistance

Boots

I’m trying not to sound like a broken record here but, again, you’ll want to look for high Life, attributes and resistances as needed. Higher budget options are rather limited in this slot. Getting “+ level of Spectre gems” from an Elder pair of boots is a nice touch, but even for high budget I wouldn’t focus too much on this bonus stat. Instead, prioritize Movement Speed on top of the defensive stats.

Modifier Priority List:
1. Life
2. Movement speed
3. Elemental resistances if needed
4. Attributes if needed
5. Chaos resistance

Belt

The belt slot offers a variety of options. For a lower budget version, you can use any belt, preferably a Stygian Vise Stygian Vise due to the jewel slot, with high Life and attributes and resistances as needed. I personally use a Darkness Enthroned Darkness Enthroned and slap in properly rolled Ghastly Eye Jewel Ghastly Eye Jewels with high Life and the modifier “Minions have #% chance to Poison Enemies on Hit” as this is crucial for the build to later reach 100% chance for your minions to poison. You will in the end need 60% coming from these jewels as 40% is provided by a support gem. The Darkness Enthroned will scale the modifiers on the jewels socketed inside of it (rounding decimals DOWN) to help reach the 100% chance later on.

Other attractive damage providing modifiers to look for on these jewels is “#% increased Minion Damage if you’ve used a Minion skill recently” and either Added Flat Chaos or Physical Damage for your minions or just a simple increase of attack speed for your minions.

Crucial Jewel:

A combination of #% poison chance and any other damage providing modifiers would be the optimal finding obviously.

Accessories

Amulet

The low budget version uses this slot to compensate for a low attributes as it is very common to find or cheap to buy jewels to solve a lot of your attribute issues. However, in the end-game you’ll want to use the unique The Jinxed Juju The Jinxed Juju which means attributes will need to be solved on other item slots on your gear.

The anoint you want is Testudo, to round out your block.

Modifier Priority List:
1. Life
2. Attributes if needed
3. Elemental resistances if needed
4. Chaos resistance

Rings

Life, attributes and resistances are the names of the game. For the end-game, you’d want to look in to getting 2x Bone Ring Bone Ring to have minion-related modifiers on the ring besides the mandatory stat priority. It’s important to point out that you’ll want a Bone Ring no matter what to help cap your minions’ elemental resistances even if you don’t have any other minion-related stats on it. Also note that 1 of your rings needs to be an Unset Ring Unset Ring to fit all your skills if you do not have a convocation on wand or shield!

Modifier Priority List:
1. Life
2. Attributes if needed
3. Elemental resistances if needed
4. Chaos resistance

For the Bone Ring Bone Ring the priority list is literally the same with the exception that getting #% increased minion damage and/or #% increased minion attack speed are very beneficial but only if the other stats are completely covered by the rest of your gear. You can, if you want, skip some of the chaos resistance for more damage this will be a defensive trade off to get more damage output.

Weapon

For higher budgets this build will eventually opt for the unique Severed in Sleep Severed in Sleep which skyrockets the damage output. This weapon is sadly very popular and therefor expensive in the early stage of a new league. Due to this the low budget version will settle for a rare 1-handed weapon with either + Level of All Skills or Minion Skills to scale our damage and survival of all our minions. Getting a minion wand will provide a little bit of extra damage and also the possibility of getting an extra modifier providing increased #% minion damage. Besides this you can make good use of the bench-craft “Trigger a Socketed Spell when you Use a Skill, with a 8 second Cooldown” by socketing your Desecrate, Bone Offering and 1 of your auras as the aura will not trigger. This will automate the corpse generation and buff effect from the offering. Do note that Desecrate should be socketed in a socket ABOVE the Bone Offering otherwise the trigger will try to consume corpses before there are any!

Flasks

Flask set-ups are almost always a matter of personal taste when it comes to what utility flasks to use. However, I will list the set-up I’ve been using for a smooth play experience. To find the available list of modifiers the flasks can have, check out these links: Utility Flasks, Life Flasks, Mana Flasks & lastly: Hybrid Flasks

Slot Flask Description
1 Seething Divine Life Flask Divine Life Flask of “Alleviation”, “Sealing”, “Allaying” or “Assuaging” Life flask, preferably with instant recovery & bleed removal
2 “Prudent”, “Prepared”, “Wary, “Careful”, or “Cautious” Eternal Life Flask Eternal Life Flask of “Alleviation”, “Sealing”, “Allaying” or “Assuaging” A backup life flask preferably not an instant rolled prefix and a backup to remove bleed effects if needed
3 “Transgressor”, “Masochist’s” or “Flaggelant’s” Basalt Flask Basalt Flask of “Abalone”, “Tortoise”, “Pangolin” or “Armadillo” The prefix modifier helps sustain the flask charges during map clearing & the flask provides increased physical damage mitigation whilst the suffix increase your armor significantly
4 “Transgressor”, “Masochist’s” or “Flaggelant’s” Granite Flask Granite Flask of “MockingBird” or “Owl” The prefix here helps sustain the flask charges during maps & the suffix reduces the effect of curses. The suffix is optional ofc.
5 “Transgressor”, “Masochist’s” or “Flaggelant’s” Quicksilver Flask Quicksilver Flask The obvious movement speed flask with charge sustain prefix modifier, the suffix can be whichever you feel like

Jewels

Minions builds almost always use the same type of jewel; we want to have eHP increasers, which for this build means a Life roll. The main modifier we are looking for is only available from Ghastly Eye Jewel Ghastly Eye Jewel and is the “Minions Have #% chance to Poison Enemies on Hit” as you’ll want to reach 100% chance for your minions, 40% is already provided by a support gem so jewels will have to cover for 60%. To make this slightly easier we use the Darkness Enthroned Darkness Enthroned that will scale the modifiers on the jewels that you socket inside of that belt, decimals are sadly rounded DOWN. Other attractive damage providing modifiers to look for on these jewels is “#% increased Minion Damage if you’ve used a Minion skill recently” and either Added Flat Chaos or Physical Damage for your minions or just a simple increase of attack speed for your minions.

Once you’ve reached 100% chance to poison on hit the optimal jewel would look something like this:
https://i.imgur.com/X9fslwO.png

Other desirable modifiers are either Taunt or Blind on hit for your minions; these modifiers are exclusive to the Ghastly Eye Jewels.

A final note on the jewels is that getting extra accuracy to your minions (or the blind as that helps with this as well) is not a bad modifier as we are just a few shy % of having 100% chance to hit for our minions. Not something you need to worry about as it has an extremely small impact on your damage output on lower budgets but knowing about it is good!
